Tylorstown RFC vs. St. Albans RFC Match Report (Sat 1st Oct 2022)

Tylorstown probably played their best rugby of the season so far but still narrowly fell to an agonising defeat by a point to current table toppers St Albans.

The game was played in an excellent spirit with both teams trying to play open rugby. The conditions helped and also the efforts of the referee Robert Mota who tried to keep the game going.
Tylorstown scored first, Dylan Lewis scored wide out after a strong scrum. Play then switched to the other end of the ground and from a rolling maul off a lineout St Albans scored their first try. 5-5
Owen Jenkins scored Tylorstown's second try after good work from Jordan Williams and Dewi Voyle putting Tylie 10-5 up at half time.
St Albans turned up the pressure in the second half and scored the next two tries converting one of them to go ahead 17-10. This kicked Tylorstown back into action and they enjoyed an extended period of pressure with Dewi Voyle and new scrum half Caine Kelly prominent. All this pressure resulted in two penalties from Jordan Williams kicking two penalties to bring us back to within a point.
With time running out Tylorstown we awarded a penalty from far out the kick from Jordan Williams struck the post and St Albans managed to scramble the ball away.
Despite more pressure Tylorstown failed to get over the line. Unfortunately for us our lineout didn't function due to injuries suffered by our lineout jumpers and unavailability of two others.
An enjoyable game but a game we could have won.
