Tylorstown v Hirwaun Match Report

Tylorstown – 36

Hirwaun – 3

Tylorstown earned a bonus point victory and ran in five tries against visitors Hirwaun.

Tylorstown won a glut of possession and ran away in the final quarter against 15 man Hirwaun.  Hirwaun are clearly a team going through lean times, fielded an under strength team, but tackled well throughout the game.

Tylorstown’s backs did well with the abundance of possession and played attacking rugby. Second row Lukke Rees began the scoring, finishing off the move where the backs were prominent. Outside half Nathan Williams featured twice in the move and showed good awareness to time his pass beautifully to Rees. Full back Chris Harris converted.

With a penalty for the visitors, Tylorstown reacted with a lovely try from wing Chris Davies who was put into space by scrum half Keiron Richards, after deft handling in the three quarters. Harris kicked the touch line conversion and soon after kicked a penalty.

In the second half Tylorstown were awarded a penalty try due to the under pressure Hirwaun pack dropping to the floor in the scrum repeatedly five metres out.

Outside half Williams grew in confidence as the game wore on and fittingly scored the break away bonus point try showing good pace and an eye for the gap.

His half back partner Richards scored the final try on the stroke of full time.

Next week Tylorstown travel to Caerau Ely.
